Upon the cool mountain of the Lord of Aruṇai, who holds the battle-axe on the right / and has on the left [Her whose] eyes are near earrings: / the evening that makes the mind melt and languish at the flute's melody / played by cowherds clad in leaves, while the red cow suffers, / shrinking its udder and bristling with hair as raindrops falling with the clouds drench it, / does not awaken great compassion in the Lord who spoke words fraught with fault.
