We never stopped and parted; on the days you parted and stayed on the snowy mountain,
we endured and sat beneath the banyan tree; unable to bear it,
when the warrior [Kāma] who came in blackness scattered daily flowers and raged,
is not the redness seen in the eyes with which we aimed and looked [at him], O maiden resembling a flowering vine, of flute-like speech?
