قال: والعلماء تحضر مجلسه، وتفطر في شهر رمضان عنده، ويأمر صدر جهان كل ليلة واحدا ممن يحضر بأن يذكر نكتة [2] ثم تتجاذب الجماعة أطراف البحث فيها بحضرة السلطان، وهو كواحد منهم، يتكلم معهم، ويبحث بينهم، ويرد عليه [3] ، وهو ممن لا يرخص في محذور، ولا يقر أحدا على منكر، ولا يتجاسر

He said: The scholars attend his assembly and break their fast with him in the month of Ramaḍān, and each night the Ṣadr-i Jahān orders one of those present to put forward a subtle point; then the company take up the discussion of it in the Sultan's presence, and he is like one of them, speaking with them and debating among them, and being answered back.
