Shaykh Mubārak told me that no one wears, or rides with saddles covered or ornamented with gold, except one on whom the Sultan has bestowed something of them; when he bestows on him something ornamented with gold, it is permission for him to acquire as much of it as he wishes. As for most of them, they ride on [saddles] covered or ornamented with silver.
