When the night was over the vizier left and I went with him. We passed a garden belonging to the treasury, and he said to me, 'This garden is yours, and I will build a house in it for you to live in.' I thanked him for this and prayed for him. The next day he sent me a slave girl, and his servant said to me, 'The vizier says to you: if she pleases you she is yours; if not, he will send you a Marhaṭa slave girl.'

Marhaṭa slave girls used to please me, so I said to him, 'I want only the Marhaṭa girl!' He sent her to me. Her name was Qul Istān, which means 'flower of the garden', and she knew the Persian language, so she pleased me; the people of those islands have a language I did not know. Then, the day after that, he sent me a slave girl from al-Maʿbar called ʿAnbarī.

The following night the vizier came to me after the last evening prayer with a few of his companions. He entered the house, and with him were two young slave boys. I greeted him, and he asked how I was; I prayed for him and thanked him. One of the two boys threw down before him a bundle (buqsha), which is like a napkin, and he took out of it silk garments and a casket containing jewels and ornaments. He gave these to me and said, 'If I had sent this to you with the slave girl, she would have said, "It is my property; I brought it from my master's house." Now it is your property, so give it to her!' I prayed for him and thanked him, and he was worthy of thanks, God have mercy on him.
