2 داستان گرگ وروباه واشتر سندیاذ را در هر باب خصل سباق ، بر اطلاق ، معین است ، خصوصا کی بر سن وتقدم در شروع علوم برهر صنفی ، ومادرت در خوض در هر فنی، همواره حمال حال او زلف وخال فضل وحکمت آراسته بوذه است ، وگلزار الفاظ او از خار کذب وخلاف پیراسته . سندباذ گفت : من نگویم از شما دانا برم ، ونیز نگویم نادانتر ، چنانک آن اشتر گفت با گرگ وروباه . حکما پرسیذند :
