Such is ever the habit of the azure vault: / when it sees freedom from sorrow, it swiftly brings ruin.
These preliminaries were stated so that the king should not allow haste—which is among
the outcomes of Satan's enticements and the vanguard of deprivation and abandonment—into his pleasing character
and commendable habits, for the consequences of precipitation and the ends of abandoning deliberation
are regret and loss: "Deliberation is from God, and haste is from Satan," especially since women
have their abode in the lair of wile and the nest of treachery. Their tales are more wondrous than the melodies of the nightingale,
and their artifices and deceptions are more numerous than the sands of the desert. If the shah
gives leave concerning this matter, I shall relate a story and recount a tale." The shah said:
"Speak!"
