c2.17

This invasion of the Pallava kingdom is indirectly admitted by Mahēndravarman I, who claims to have defeated the Chālukyas at Pullalūra near Kānchipuram, when the enemy were driven back and the capital saved. However, after this event the Chālukyas permanently occupied the northern province of the Pallava dominions, and Vishnuvardhana, the younger brother of Pulikēsin II, who was probably sent out as governor of the newly acquired province, eventually established himself at Vēngi and started the Eastern Chālukya dynasty sometime before 632 A.
