Mahēndra's son and successor, Narasimhavarman I, surnamed Māamalla, was just as zealous a devotee of Siva as his father had been before him. This is exemplified by the wonderful group of temples at the Seven Pagodas, most of which are dedicated to Siva and were excavated during Māamalla's reign.
