² Pāṇini in the Gaṇasūtra ‘*gomūtra āchchhādane*’; on Sūtra V. 4. 3. refers to a cloth called ‘*gomūtrikā*’ which seems to be the ‘*sāri*’ worn by men and women in the reliefs at Bharhut and Sanchi; it seems to have derived its name from the particular ‘*gomūtra*’ form of its front pendant portion.
