The technique of building vertical columns, horizontal mouldings and friezes was rendered extremely simple with the help of a variety of ornamental bricks bearing different designs such as chevron, chess-board, cross-petal or four-petalled flower, dentil, inverted pyramids, windows, corbelled arches and flowers like the sun-flower, lotus add lily². Plaques with human figures were made to alternate with moulded bricks in different patterns producing an extremely pleasing effect, which could not be excelled even in stone reliefs or statuettes.
