*Sapta-Ratna*, mentioned for the first time in the Rig veda as the gift of Agni in each home, was later transferred in the Buddhist and Purāṇic literature to a *Chakravartī* King. These included a *Chakra-Ratna* (wheel of Law), *Hasti-Ratna*, *Aśva-Ratna*, *Maṇi-Ratna*, *Strī-Ratna*, *Gṛihapati-Ratna* and *Pariṇāyaka-Ratna* (Wise Counsellor).
