A heavily gathered skirt, an elaboration on the *ghagri* probably introduced by foreigners, is also seen. It seems to be mainly used by dancers, so that the swirling effect is enhanced by its many folds which may have been gored. This skirt is still worn by many rural peoples, including the Lambadi and Banjara gypsies of India.
