² T. P. Bhattacharya has recently published two articles on ‘The Cult of Brahmā’ (*J.B.R.S.*, Vol. XL, pp. 364-94, and Vol. XLI, pp. 13-58). He tries to prove in them that 'the Brahmā cult is non-Vedic and pre-Vedic', and he infers 'the antiquity of the Rātra cults of Brahmā from their existence in the period when the ancient Sumerians, Cretans and Egyptians lived on this world'.
