¹ For a detailed description of these goddesses with or without inscriptions, refer to R. D. Banerjee's *The Haihayas of Tripuri and their Monuments*, pp. 79-90. The Ranod inscription (Gwalior State) of the 10th or 11th century A.D. mentions the name of Terambipāla, a Śaiva ascetic of the Mattamayūra clan; it means literally "the protector of Terambi ", or, "protected by Terambi ". Terambā and Terambi both seem to signify the goddess Durgā in one of her aspects.
