The ḍagaba or stūpa is a dome-shaped monument, surmounted by a tee or finial, built on a platform, usually square, but occasionally round or octagonal; the largest modern ḍagabas rarely exceed sixty or seventy feet in circumference at the base, and most are smaller; when placed under the overhanging ledge of cave temple they are often quite small (Pl. VIII., in the lower picture).
