Yellow (*kaha pāṭa*).—This is gamboge from the *gokaṭu* tree (*Garcinia morella*); but the material preferred for painting on wood or earthenware is orpiment (*hiriyal*, or *maḍa hiriyal*) and this is now often used even when *gokaṭu* would be preferable.
