“And he (the priest or king) caused that vihāra named Rajata to be completed, and that great feast to be held in the two thousand three hundred and first year of the Parinibbāṇa of the Supreme Buddha” (Mahāvamsa, Ch. C.) Such work was a labour of love to all concerned.
