It is very usual for a number of women to meet together for a spinning bee, when the work is done to the accompaniment of songs, those most favoured being Vessantara, Magamāna and Vidhura Jātakas, Yasōdharāvata, Māra Yuddhaya, and Mahā-bhinishkramaṇaya, all religious songs.
