Jackets worn by govi-vamsa ladies were generally embroidered. The left-hand girl’s dress Jackets on Pl. II. shows a bodice embroidered with flowers and parrots, probably in gold thread, and perhaps the work of the regular tailors. On Pl. XXX., 2, is shown a part of a jacket sleeve, copied from one said to have been worn by a queen in the eighteenth century; it is of particularly admirable design. In my own collection are two similar cotton jackets, each with a mante, the one embroidered with blue and red cotton, the other with red cotton and gold thread. The latter has at the back, an embroidered design of bō-leaf and two birds affronted.
