A buttonhole stitch is often used for the conventional foliage when it needs filling in as can Buttonhole be seen in the beautiful border of Pl. XXXII., 9. The design of this particular border stitch *Embroidery* is outlined in white and filled in with a red buttonhole stitch which widens or narrows according to the space needed to be filled. It has a very rich effect.
