We know from the recent discoveries of bronzes at Polonnaruva that fine Hindu art flourished there in the twelfth century still; and the better known stone sculptures, especially the figure of Parākrama Bāhu, show that here too a high level of attainment was again reached. But the work is much rather Hindu than Buddhist, and there can be little doubt that many or most of the craftsmen were of Dravidian origin.
