in the front; a jacket and mante and a patterned tuppotiya, probably of muslin with gold or silver thread (not silk as suggested by R. and J.). He carries a sword hanging by a bandolier over the right shoulder. A lotus flower is in the left hand. The jewellery worn includes earrings, two necklaces with jewelled pendants, armlets and anklets. BELOW. The last Kandyan King attended by his ministers; from a Sinhalese drawing reproduced in Davy's ‘Travels in Ceylon.’ The King wears a crown surmounted by a bōralaya, shirt (kamisiya), tunic (bō-heṭṭaya), cape (mante), trousers (uḍaya), and sandals, earrings, necklaces and pendants. He bears as an emblem a lacquered arrow. Two Aḍigārs stand on the left. The three attendants near them hold the vaḍana talatta, sēsata, and mutu kuḍaya; the same and other emblems are held by other attendants on the right, and a kneeling attendant waves a cāmara.
