OBJECTS OF BRASS AND SILVER.
1. *Riḍi peṭṭiya*, silver jewel box. Very fine old example in a pure style. The flattened stem of the *liya veḷa* ornament recalls similar treatment at Barāhat. Height 9, diameter 8 inches. Property of Maḍuvanvela Raṭēmahātmaya.
2. Brass jewel box, ‘Indo-Portuguese’ style. Measurement, 8 × 5 × 4 inches. Probably Low-country work. Colombo Museum collection.
3. Brass door-handle and rose. Diameter of rose 5 inches. Gaḍaladeṇiya Vihāra.
4. Brass jewel or betel-leaf box. Probably Tamil work. Ornament, two peacocks affronted, and *liya veḷa*; a form of *pala peti* border. Colombo Museum collection.
5. Small silver box, under side showing engraving (*iri veḍa*). ‘Acanthus’ and ‘pine-apple’ type of design, possibly showing Renaissance influence. Size of box, 3 × 2½ inches. Author’s collection.
6. *Amba*, brass mango; set with jewels. From a Pattini Dēvāle. Length 20½ inches. Collection of Mr. P. E. Pieris, C.C.S. This mango is also described and illustrated in ‘Spolia Zeylanica,’ V., 141 (1908). The birds, however, are rather peacocks than *garuḍas*.
7. Brass door-handle and rose, key and key-plate. Diameter of rose about 6½ inches. Laṅkātilaka Vihāra.
