∗ ‘Sketches of Ceylon History,’ Ceylon National Review, Jan. 1906. † Described as having the roof shaped like a bird’s wing. The Mahāvaṃsa, in Chapter LXXVIII., mentions a dwelling ‘shaped like an eagle’ built by Parākrama Bāhu for an ascetic named Kapila.
