Kakka II. was ousted by Taila II. who was, probably, a descendant of a side branch of the Chālukya family, and the Rāṣṭrakūṭas ceased to exist. The Silāhāras of Kolhāpur established themselves about this time, while the Rāṣṭrakūṭas left representatives of their family in the feudatory chiefs, the Raṭṭas of Saundatti and Belgaum, who carried the banner with the golden Garuḍa.
