The sign of C or rest, although its value is not definitely stated by Anginayya, can be—judging from the performances of modern Mridang or Tabla players—correctly taken to be of the same value as the note immediately preceding; or else it may be employed as a "dot," when placed after a note, to lengthen its value by one-half.
