¹ This is against the general scheme which places the Brāhmaṇs towards the centre. Besides, the designation ‘Agrahāram’ of a village peopled mainly by Vaiśyas and Śūdras is contrary to recognised nomenclature, as the quarters of the Brāhmaṇs alone go by that name.
