¹ Mr. K. V. Vaze in the July number of the *Vedic Magazine* (1922) writes :—" The ground on which a building is to be erected should not slope much nor should it slope towards the prevailing wind and rain. In India the prevailing wind and rain are from the south or west and hence the site should not slope towards the south or west. If the ground falls towards the wind and rain, it is likely to be washed off by every shower and it would not afford protection from rain and wind. The site should moreover be such as to allow of the penetration of the sun's rays into it." For this a slope towards the south would have been more favourable.
