The *Madhyam-nava-tāla* and its component parts are illustrated in the photograph of the wax model (Fig. 1) one *tālam* in the diagram is equal to 12 parts or *angulas*. The *Uttama-dasa-tāla* is shown in the diagram of Vishnu (Perumal) prepared by an artist of Travancore (figure 3).
