The details of the throne, the royal crowns and the umbrella, are rendered in relief with gilt gesso and glass. Real pearls are used in the jewellery and ornaments. In the background is given in miniature a most realistic picture of the palace and city of Ayodhya, with its inhabitants—King, courtiers, men-at-arms, richly caparisoned elephants and war-horses, the temples and sacred cows, the public bathing tank, the city walls, the river, and the country beyond—a perfect microcosm of the life and ceremonial of a royal Indian city.
