There are several in the Râmâyana; one in which Râma had an image made of Sîtâ. This was, however, only to meet the dilemma in which he was placed when, after Sîtâ was exiled, he was advised to perform the great Horse-sacrifice, a ceremony which demanded the presence of his co-partner in religious rites, his wife. Râma had the golden image of his Queen made for the occasion, and it was carried in front of the procession by his brother Bharat (*Uttara Kanda*, 25).
