¹ It would be interesting to know how much is spent annually by the Public Works Department and by municipalities in Bengal in repairing roofs of official buildings “designed” after the regulation departmental patterns which the Bengali builder has to copy; and the annual average rainfall inside the roofs of these buildings would be the most curious of meteorological records, as I have had occasion to observe.
