AMONG the building bye-laws laid down in the Mânasâra are the following: "Schools and buildings for religious study should be erected at the angular points of villages," *i.e.* they should be in the quietest places, out of the main traffic and near the least-used entrances of the village. A *dharamsâla* for travellers and pilgrims, with water and other accommodation, ought to be built at the S.E. approach to the village.
