This work is said to have been compiled by sage Mānasāra. Mānasāra literally means the science of measurements. It contains 7 Adhyāyas and the 7th deals with the ground plan, general design, shape etc. of the villages, towns, cities etc. together with forts. It particularly deals with architecture. To this class of works belong the Mayamata, Vishwakarma Vastu, the Silparatna etc. also.
