At this stage, it should be noted that chalcolithic culture had wide spread in the Deccan indicated by hundreds of sites in the Narmadā, the Tāpī, the Gōdāvarī, the Krishnā valleys, but enclosure walls noticed in Daimābād and Ināmagāon (Sankalia,H.D.,1973, pp.139-146 and Dhavalikar,M.K.,1977, pp. 47-48) on the one hand and apparent absence of such walls in extensive sites at Nevāsa (Sankalia,H.D., 1960, p.67) etc., Navadātōli (Sankalia,H.D.,1971, pp.40-60), which are excavated on large scale on the other, indicate no standardizations in their material equipments and erection of defence walls. This appears to be exceptional rather than a common practice.
