"[A fort 'full of kine' (gōmati) is mentioned,showing that strongholds were used to hold cattles apparently as belonging to Dàsas. Autumnal (Śaradi) forts are named appare-ntly as belonging to Dāsas. This may refer to the forst in the season being occupied again the (âryan A^a^ttacks or against inundations called by overflowing floods of rivers. Forts with hundred walls (Śatabhuji) are spoken of."
