Apart from the many sculptures in stone or metal, the terra-cotta reliefs (Bhītārgāon, Chausa, etc.),¹¹⁶ of which species there must have been numberless examples, deserve a passing remark. An acute sense of frolicsome freedom, and of vigorous action reveals the Indian artist from yet another side. May be that the more perishable material was welcome to him for the rendering of moods that do not claim to be permanent; but there is no essential difference in the plastic treatment.
