In the Vāstumaṇḍala on which all architecture rests, the border of the square cycle of the Ecliptic is not sub-divided into 12, but into 32 units. This original number of the symbolism of space accommodates, within the border of the square of the Ecliptic, the "32 Nakṣatras".²⁷
