³⁵ The Sāman or chant of Cyavana causes generation; 'Tāṇḍya Mahābrāhmaṇa', XIII. 5. 12-13; it procures nourishment, etc.; as it was first "seen" by Cyavana it is called the Chant of Cyavana (J. B., III. 128).
