³⁸ 'Śaradātilaka', III. Comm. on śl. 2. An aeon or kalpa is one day of Brahmā. It is the period of the creation, evolution and destruction of a universe. Then, in the night of Brahmā this universe is completely reabsorbed; a new universe arises at the dawn of another day of Brahmā. A night or day of Brahmā has 1000 Yugas of the gods (cf. note 25, Part I).
