Further on the Sūkta of Atharvan continues: “In the eastern quarter set thou the head of the goat; in the southern quarter his right side” (AV. IV. 14. 7). The goat is laid in the position of Agni, which it is; and also of the Vāstupuruṣa which name is given to the goat-Asura on his having settled down in that position.
