⁴³ "Uttāna" spread out, looking upwards, is the Vāstupuruṣa according to 'Viṣṇusamhitā', XII. 51; 'Agni Purāṇa', XCIII. 3; 'Vāstuvidyā', IV. 48; 'Manuṣyālayacandrikā', II. 28; 'Śaradātilaka', III, 2. comm. 3. The latter says "prottāna"; and adds, III. 2. Comm. 6: "elsewhere it is said that the face of the Vāstu is bent down." cf. the golden Puruṣa. Ś.B. VII. 4. 1. 45; 'Kātyāyana', XVII. 4. 10.
