v1.c6.s5.27
⁸¹ The ‘Mahānirvāṇatantra’, XIII, 49, prescribes as maṇḍala for the worship of the Vāstupuruṣa, a square of one cubit side length, with a lotus in the 4 central squares and the 12 followers of the Vāstudaitya around it. This square of 16 units is similar to a Rāśicakra. The images here are similar though not identical; cf. the lotus in the ‘city of Brahman’. The lotus, symbol of manifestation, is also drawn in the centre of the Vāstumaṇḍala.
