v1.c6.s5.38

(‘Mahānirvāṇatantra’, XIII. 54); Brahmā issues on a lotus from the navel of the Puruṣa. This is the place of ‘Brahmaṇātmasambhava’ (‘Tantra-Samuccaya’, I. 1. 62). The Brahmasthāna lies between the heart and the belly of the Vāstupuruṣa, this is the ‘daśāṅgula’ (Śaṅkarācārya on ‘Śvetāśvataropaniṣad’, III.) from the navel, the seat of ‘manas’ (mind), to the heart, the seat of ‘buddhi’ (intellect) in man, the microcosm.
