⁵² As an elaboration of the square, the outer face of the walls, on the plan of the Prāsāda, shows two varieties of buttress formations. In one case they jut out from the main wall at regular intervals and produce a fretted outline, and in the other, the main buttress of each wall proliferates in one or more further projections; these types resulting in a cross shaped plan. These types are also frequently found in combination.
