v1.c8.s4.46
What precisely Śikhara and Śṛṅga of the Prāsāda or the Vimāna meant in the Epics except the top of a high building cannot be reconstructed from the respective passages, which compare them to clouds and mountain peaks (‘Rām.’ II. 17. 17; II. 33. 3, etc., see Acharya, ‘Dictionary’, op. cit., s.v.) The Śuṅga relief representations show vaulted and dome shaped roofs of bamboo construction.
