v1.c8.s5.9

⁷² Vedic initiation is performed to-day in the centre of the house, either in a room in the interior of the building or in a specially erected 'pandal' or Maṇḍapam in the centre of the courtyard within the building. The secluded place in the house or in the Maṇḍapam, set aside for the initiation, is called Garbhagṛha. Garbhagṛha, in domestic architecture, designates the interior part of the house ('Samarāṅgaṇa-sūtradhāra', ch. XIX, 27).
