v1.c9.s2.12

The construction of the curvilinear Śikhara, by means of a division in geometrical progression—by four fold division (caturguṇa sūtra) in this instance—is given in the ‘Hayaśīrṣapañcarātra’, XIII. 324 f. and ‘Agnipurāṇa’, XLII. 15-17. This particular method which is indicated here, underlies the process by which the batter of the curved outline of this type of the Śikhara is determined. The ‘Samarāṅgaṇasūtradhāra’ gives further information and the ‘Bṛhacchilpaśāstra’, with a recent commentary in Gujerati, is partly even more explicit.
