v1.c9.s2.18

⁶⁰ S.S. LVI. 137: “Caturguṇaiḥ pṛthaksūtraiḥ padmakośaṃ samālikhet”; LVI. 275: “Pṛthaksūtristriguṇitair veṇukośaṃ samālikhet”; LVII. 817: “Sīmnaḥ pañcaguṇaṃ sūtraṃ rekhāntaṃ tatra vartayet”. LVII. 674 prescribes “ṣaḍguṇa sūtra”, etc.—These passages indicate that lines have to be drawn severally from three times to six times, dividing the height of the trunk of the Śikhara in a geometrical progression by three, four, five or six, while another set of lines of corresponding number and at equal distances is drawn parallel to the height, within the rectangle described above. The terms ‘Veṇukośa’, the “sheath of the reed”, ‘Sīmā’, the boundary or width of the Prāsāda, are explained in Part VII.
